presence
In celebration of Black History Month, Origins Untold presents presence, a programme of events celebrating people of the African diaspora. This year we are focusing particularly on the landscapes, locales and surroundings in which we make our homes and communities.
From a poetic procession across the rolling chalk hills of the Kent Downs to plein-air depictions of inner-city architecture, presence will explore the complex resonances of situating African and Caribbean-heritage people in the English countryside, examining how racialization, transformation and transmission of histories are transfigured by place – in public, on the land and in nature.
From Thursday 6th October to Sunday 30th October 2022, Hythe Town Hall and various locations in Folkestone.
